Arrival in Zurich. Travelling by train in Switzerland is an experience in its own right. Jaw-dropping mountainscapes met you at every turn, and you traverse the mountains through tunnels and bridges that capture the imagination. The little ones are mesmerised by the view.
When you arrive in Lucerne, you have a wide variety of choices. A romantic walk through the streets of the old city, a hike in woods and even a boat ride in the lake. To each their own! Next morning, you embark on a family adventure to Seelisberg that ends with a standup paddlingboarding lesson in Lake Lucerne.
You travel by train to Grindelwald, charming village that sits in the shadow of the fearsome Eiger North Face. The mountains are intimidating so you must explore the surroundings to make sense of them. A cable-car to First takes you to the heights of the valley. From there, you descend on a professional zipline. It is a thrill akin to that of flying, and let the mountains bear witness! You feel like a hardened adventurer. In the meantime the kids are begging for a second go. You drive a mountaincart or a scooter-bike ― your choice! ― back to resort.
If there is an iconic mountain that can beat the Eiger, it must be the Matterhorn. As you approach Zermatt, the pyramidal colossus dominates the horizon. The nature around Zermatt is charming and you take advantage of the outdoors. Next morning, you undertake a tour of the lakes around the mountains. It is a lovely hike that you can all enjoy together as a family. But the little ones always call for more adventure. The next day, you descend into a gorge. There is climbing and rappelling involved. By the end of the day you feel rejuvenated. Such is the power of nature.
