A possible, beautiful itinerary for you

  1. Arrival in Tokyo

Japan’s capital since the Edo period, Tokyo is a complex city that is ripe for exploration and discovery. A renowned mecca of business and technology, travellers often overlook that Tokyo is also a cultural powerhouse, with art and fashion to rival any other capital. That will be the focus of your exploration during the days to follow. For the time being, you enjoy an outstanding dinner in one of Tokyo’s best restaurants… Bon appétit!

  2. The Traditional Arts

Your private, English-speaking guide and driver takes you to the Sumo ring. Here you witness a training session, a privilege usually reserved for VIP patrons. The ritualistic aspects of Sumo fighting make it quite a compelling martial art. Before lunch, you take a leisurely stroll along Kiyosumi Garden, imbibed in history and verse, so to speak. You witness a Shingon Buddhist Fire Ceremony, with drums and bonfire a-blazing, it’s a suitable way to bless your journey. You then head to a Bonsai villa to see some of the finest examples of this art and enjoy the company of a master. Shinjuku Golden Gai is an iconic section of Tokyo that reflects the city’s past and harbours some of the best bars in town. A resident American filmmaker joins you in this enterprise.

  3. The Modern West Side

You begin the day at the studio of a master bamboo artisan whose craft has been exhibited at the Met NY. A fashion specialist joins your entourage to Daikanyama and Nakameguro, Tokyo’s chic-central, with quirky boutiques, high-end shopping, a vibrant sidewalk café culture, and a unique vibe, not to mention the best contemporary art galleries in Japan. To end the evening, you enjoy a sake tasting and an exclusive dinner.

  4. Nature’s Artistry

Enjoy a free morning in Tokyo and then head to the countryside for a traditional ryokan where you will discover the charm of nature and the pleasures of Japanese high-cuisine.

  5. At the Artist’s Retreat

Visit a local artisan’s studio and enjoy the natural highlights, ancient Shinto shrines and breathtaking views of the Japanese countryside. As the day wanes, head back to Tokyo for a dining experience arranged exclusively for you.

  6. Departure

After enjoying some free time in Tokyo, your private driver will take you to the airport where you will catch your international flight.
