After an easy morning in Port Vila, fly to Tanna, home to Mt Yasur, an active volcano that puts on quite a show. Your accommodation for the day is a tree house next to the volcano. You can see the frequent eruptions from your room!
You join local guides and biologists and explore the wildlife that populates the island. There are some incredible scuba spots in Tanna.
Today, you explore the local villages and interact with the locals. There is much to learn about the South Pacific cultures: their memories of the sea, their hospitality and their traditional way of life. It is also the last time you’ll have electricity and hot water for a while, so make the most of it!
Fly back to Port Vila and board the Vaka, a traditional vessel and your home for the next three days. The crew is made up of locals who keep alive the stories and the customs of their people. They spend a lot of time in the waters of Vanuatu and are expert sailors. They welcome you aboard with a cup of kava and some fresh food. They sail by the stars, which are multitudinous as the sun sets and you find yourself already amidst the waters of the South Pacific.
When you wake up, the Vaka is easing into a hidden cove. You descend to enjoy the secret Paradise and enjoy a delicious, fresh breakfast ashore. When the breeze starts to rise, you sail away to another beautiful spot: waterfalls, pristine beaches, images you thought existed only in dreams.
As the Vaka sails back to Port Vila, you stop at different villages. These are home to some of the crew and you are welcomed like family.
During the night, the Vaka slipped into Port Vila harbour. You wake up already back in the city and transfer back to your resort, where you have a full day to relax.
After a leisurely morning in Port Vila, fly to New Caledonia. Upon arrival, your private driver will take you to cowboy country. Your hotel for the night is one of travel’s best-kept secrets. Such luxury tastes all the sweeter because it is, quite literally, on the edge of the World.
Explore the breathtaking scenery and meet the Caldoche, French-speaking cowboys that have developed an unique, original culture. You can ride with them and take a canter down the beach: it doesn’t get any more cinematic than this!
Your private guide drives you to the eastern side of New Caledonia, much more tropical and lush. Here you meet the Kanak, the original people of the region. You learn of their culture and eat their delicious food. Afterwards, your guide drives you to one of the remotest corners of the South Pacific, where you will enjoy, so to speak, an escape within your escape.
Drive back to the capital and explore the French-inspired city at your leisure.
