  1. Arrival in Tokushima

    Taking advantage of Cathay Pacific’s direct flight from Hong Kong to Shikoku, you avoid long transfers and rail segments. From Shikoku, you make your way to Teshima in the Seto Inland Sea. In the most famous of the Art Islands, Teshima Art Museum has been dubbed by some one of the most profound aesthetic experiences in the world. You enjoy how this innovative museum blends into the landscape and then discover the rest of the island on a leisurely electric bike ride. Your guide let’s you in on all the secrets not even the poshest among the Biennal crowd know about.

  2. A Quick Stop at Honsu

    You set sail in the Seto Inland Sea towards Honsu, Japan’s main island. On its shores lies Kurashiki where a strong art presence as well as Edo Period canals make it a charming spot for lunch or a bit of shopping. You continue towards Megijima and Ogijima, which offer some of the best art instalations in the whole of the Art Islands. Among other important pieces, you experience Leandro Erlich's The Presence of Absence, a superb work that combines illusion and profundity of meaning. In the evening you sail back to Teshima where a seaside dinner and a dip in the onsen close what can only be described as a day devoted to beauty.

  3. Small Islands, Great Aesthetics

    You visit either Inujima or Shodoshima, lesser knows art islands that nevertheless harbour some of the most thought-provoking museums and art experiences in Japan. In the afternoon you cross the sea towards Takamatsu, in Shikoku. From here, you can return home or explore areas of Japan that have remain untrodden and undiscovered by tourism.
