You arrive in Kenya and make your way to the base camp. The camels are restless and eager to start their journey. As you look out into the distance you see a vastness that can only be found in Africa. The wild beyond is teeming with animals, steinbuck and impala abound, and the giraffes glide like beacons among the boughs. The horizon: that’s where you’re headed.
To experience the terrain, the subtle changes in light, to stop when an animal appears, when there is something that catches your attention, that is freedom that a walking safari grants. The animals don’t flee at the sound of a motor, and you can spend all day enjoying the bush in intimate experiences. Sure, a Land Rover will get you farther! But a walking safari will take you deeper.
However great, walking safaris usually entail a fair deal of physical prowess. One usually has to carry one’s equipment so anything non essential is out of the question. But a camel caravan allows you to carry a full camp on tow. Let comfort follow you: large, traditional canvas tents with toilets are set for you in the most beautiful locations. There’s another perk to camel safaris: children and the elderly can ride them and thus keep the pace of the group, so the entire family can enjoy this unique adventure.
Few adventures are as customisable as our Camel Safaris. You can stay for three nights, as a perfect addendum to the rest of your African family vacation. You can extend your walking safari. Sixteen days is customary but you could go even longer and venture into truly uncharted terrain. We have the ability to supply water caches and the camels allow you to go for long stretches without the need for external assistance.
